"And that's Okay"

Many years ago when I was attending master's level Counseling and Spiritual Psychology classes from University of Santa Monica, the students were asked to create their own affirmation and share them with the class. I listened to the affirmations of hundreds of classmates and many were very ambitious, long-winded and a bit too highfalutin for me. Some examples of affirmations my classmate chose: "I am a Goddess and I am creating unlimited wealth, love, health, creative works, loving relations....in every area " "I deserve to receive perfect love because I am perfectly what I am and cannot only succeed in everything I aspire toward." "I am a perfect child of God, beautiful, in perfect health and am working in the perfect field doing a job I love and getting paid more than I can spend." Although these affirmations were certainly ambitious, part of the power of an affirmation derives from how strongly the person employing the affirmation is able to truly embrace and BELIEVE the affirmation. This was during a time in my life where I was filled with despair, grief, extreme disappointment in myself and I did not think that an affirmation that was over the top would work for me, if I couldn't even believe it POSSIBLE for myself. t I hit on the following affirmation which has worked for me whenever I've taken the time to employ it. It's very simple: Identify a feeling, thought, desire, dream, insecurity, uncertainly... really doesn't matter. Examples: I feel like staying in bed all day AND THAT'S OKAY. I'm judging my self as lazy and THAT'S OKAY. My hair looks bad today and that's okay. Other people are not acting the way I want them to act, and that's okay. I feel blessed, filled with light gratitude and happiness and that's okay. o attract all we desire.were beautiful and certainly ambitious, I hit on a simple statement that could be used after any thought, emotion, action etc. It has worked for me when I've taken the time to use it. It basically goes like this for example: I feel great today and that's okay I feel like shxt, and that's okay. I can't seem to stop judging my self, and that's okay, I am anxious, insecure and desolated, and that's okay. I have regrets and that's okay. I feel loving and that's okay. I don't want to get out of bed today, and that's okay.
